Snooky is sleeping on my sweatshirt

I feel bad for Snooky. She comes from an environment of multiple dogs and lots of excitement. I'm afraid that is not the case in David's Apartment. I would love to get a second dog. But the GIRLFRIEND would disapprove. ::sigh:: IF I ever got a second dog it would be another Boston Terrier or a French Bulldog. IF I ever got a second dog I would name it Scout if it's a girl and Spartacus if it was a boy. That is a lot of IF's. So for now, I'm going to stay a single dog guy and act as the surrogate doggie playmate for a bored Boston. ::makes a bitey dog face out of my hand:: Let's play Snooky! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

I need a life...

Final report of the commercial starship Nostromo, third officer reporting. The other members of the crew, Kane, Lambert, Parker, Brett, Ash and Captain Dallas, are dead. Cargo and ship destroyed. I should reach the frontier in about six weeks. With a little luck, the network will pick me up. This is Ripley, last survivor of the Nostromo, signing off. Come on, cat.

USELESS FACT #5734

The Almighty Dollar is the OFFICIAL currency in the following countries: American Samoa, British Virgin Islands, El Salvador (I know threw me for a loop too!), Guam, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of Micronesia), Northern Mariana Islands, Republic of Palau (pictured above), Puerto Rico, United States of America, Turks and Caicos Islands, Virgin Islands, Timor-Leste (Gesundheit!), Ecuador (sure, why not), Johnston Island (I've included a map in case you're wondering), Midway Islands, and Wake Island.

I'm writing the outline of a story

I have been jotting down ideas for a story. I'm working on the timeline of events. It'll probably come to nothing, but it's fun to work on.

I never knew that...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkD60wab3n4

When I lived at Ft. Riley KS, my Grandparents came to visit my family. We were all out at the stables (I shoveled out manure from horses stalls WAY more than I ever rode our horses). So I'm coming out of one of the Quonset hut buildings at the stables and I walk across the wide cement doorstep. On top of that cement was a little bit of sand. So Pap-pa is standing there, and when I hear the sound of the sand underneath my shoes, I stop and pretend to do a soft shoe. You know just showing off for my Grandfather. When I'm done, Pap-pa motions me out of the way and steps up to the cement slab and proceeds to do a 10 minute soft shoe routine. It was just like in the movies. I stood there with my mouth open. You learn something new every day...

HELLUU from Tejas...

I'm down at the Ranch for a week. Mark and I are going through Dad's stuff in his study. Mom is 'simplifying', so she wants us to cart off stuff in preparation of her selling the Ranch (but not so much that she let me have the $7K print of the Cavalry Officers at Ft. Riley). Mark is taking one of the 'Armor in the Desert' prints and I'm taking the other (He won the flip to choose which one). We found a bunch of Dad's old drawings from when he was 16 and taking H.S. Art classes. He was very talented. I'm going to frame some of them and put the rest in acid free sleeves and store them. Today Prince (the Pom) ran off and one of the County Policemen spotted him sprinting along the fence next to Farm Rd. 116 (which has the crazy TX drivers roaring 70mph down it and passing each other on the shoulder). Tif might get to come down earlier tomorrow. I can't wait...

At some point this won't make me sad...

It still bothers me when I drive past an Outlet or walk past one of our old Mall locations (but not Mid-Rivers or The Mills, hmmmmm)...

The Christmas Trip

CHRISTMAS AGAIN?

You bet. My brother Mark is back from Afghanistan and he and his family (YES, I get to see my nephew!) are traveling to the Ranch in TX. Tif & I will be driving down soon to celebrate the Holiday he missed while in country. My cousin Angie and her family are also coming. NOTE: I am NOT sleeping on the fold out couch...

Think large canary...

Today Tif and I are taking her neice Kenzie to see Seaseme Street Live. Tif is keeping her for a while while her Mom is recovering in the Hospital. Tif is estatic over her new neice Morgan. Kenzie thinks Big Bird lives in the Arch. ::shrugs::

I have a confession...

EVERY SINGLE MIZZOU GAME I WATCHED ON TV OR IN COLUMBIA, THE TIGERS LOST. Every single game that I missed MIZZOU won. I'm afraid that I'm bad luck for the University of Missouri...

Tif & I are heading to The Ranch for Thanksgiving

Last Saturday Mom visited a Methodist Church in a bad neighborhood of Kileen and in the 1st 15 minutes she was in the Church someone busted out her window and stole her purse. They didn't get her home keys or cell phone, but they did get her cash, credit cards, work keys, etc. She has already cancelled everything. I don't like her living out in the country by herself. Tif & I are leaving early Wednesday morning. Tif's Mom is sending some Pumpkin Bread with us and Tif is making some Gooey Butter Cake. We may go to the Dallas Zoo or Botanical Garden while we are there. I really miss my friends at the Bookstore.

I miss my buddy

Paul, if you are still reading my Journal please give me a call I need to talk with you...

Ft. Hood Memorial Ceremony

My Mom attended the Memorial Service at Ft. Hood yesterday to honor the victims of the shooting. She left at 9:30am and got back to the ranch at 4:30. Most of that time was getting onto and off of the post. Security was high because of our President attending. Mom just told me that the lady that sang AMAZING GRACE at the Ceremony was the same lady that sang at my Father's funeral. I watched the highlights on the news but I didn't see Mom...

from the movie LOVE ACTUALLY...

Prime Minister: "Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often, it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion... love actually is all around.
